تدور احداث الرواية حول استاذ في جامعة هارفرد يسمى روبرت لانغدون وكان يقوم بإلقاء محاضرة في الكابيتول، وإذا به يلاحظ شفرة غامضة لدعوة قديمة، وبعد ذلك الوقت يتعرض صديقه الماسوني بيتر سولومون للاختطاف، فيعلم لانغدون أن عملية الخطف لها علاقة بتلك الدعوة، واذا لم يقبل تلك الدعوة لن يتمكن من ايجاد صديقه فيقوم بقبول هذه الدعوة ويتجه الي مدينة تاريخية في امريكا مملوءة بالأنفاق السرية والآثار ، و تتوالي الاحداث المبهمة ليتم الكشف عن العديد من الأسرار.

The novel revolves around a Harvard professor named Robert Langdon who was giving a lecture on the Capitol.If he notices a mysterious code for an old call, then his Freemason friend Peter Solomon is abducted.Langdon learns that the kidnapping is related to that invitation, and if he doesn't accept that The invitation will not be able to find a friend who will accept this invitation and head to a historic city in America filled with secret tunnels and monuments, and follow the vague events to be revealed many secrets.
